Greek hiking tour operator Kythnos Hiking (, which also operates on neighbouring island Serifos, is closing the 2021 walking season on a high with top-rated tours on both islands packed full of cultural highlights.

The strong finish to the season bodes well for 2022 when the season will start with nature tours, a tour at Orthodox Easter - Sunday is 24 April - to enjoy the Friday procession around the village, churches, special foods, music and dancing.

In addition, Terrain Maps ( has agreed to publish an updated version of the Kythnos Hiking Guide with our new routes, freshened up photos, and historic site vignettes written by key players.

This 2021 season will run up to the end of October, our scheduled end-date, when the island is quieter, the countryside fine, eating and drinking establishments remain open, and when the sea starts to cool slightly for swimming.

2022 will start with an end-March nature tour organised by our UK partner Greentours ( with Kythnos Hiking organising the island logistics and sharing our nature guide David Koutsogiannopoulos.

We will organise our own nature tour, with slightly more walking and culture in the following week or two. Details in due course.

Shorter evening tours of Kythnos's two main villages - Hora and Dryopida - are being prepared as an aperitivo for dinner and would aim to include Hora's churches, historic themes, museums and the Dryopida Katafiki cave.

Indications from our suppliers, mainly hotels, are suggesting higher rates in 2022 and we may have to slightly edge up our prices to cover these increased costs. However any price rises will only be effective for bookings made in 2022.
